Silhouette Tree

Use masking tape, paint, and pen to make a pretty silhouetted tree. Use blues, purples, reds, pinks, or yellows to make a lovely sky.

Time: 20 minutes
Age: 5-10's, Over 10's
Level: Medium

Materials
Sheet of white or cream watercolour paper
Masking tape
Acrylic paints in various colours
Black pen

Method
Rip a large piece of masking tape to make the main tree trunk. Stick it on to the middle of the white paper.

Rip smaller pieces of masking tape and stick them on to make the rest of the branches of the tree.

Using your preferred colour mix brush paint across the paper in horizontal brush strokes - you can layer different colours as you go up the paper.

Leave the painting to dry.

Gently tear off the masking tape to reveal the silhouette of the tree.

Using a black felt tip, draw short horizontal lines from the edges of each branch, getting smaller as the branches get smaller.
