Every design is unique

Liberally sloshing around paint is fun just by itself but if you're looking for something a little different for young children to enjoy then have a go at string painting.

Time: 15 minutes
Age: Under 5's
Level: Easy

Materials
Paint
Paper plate
String
Paper

Method
Blob a good amount of paint onto a paper plate. If you want to do more than one colour then use separate plates or containers for the paint.

Let the child put the string in the paint and use their fingers to fully cover it with paint.

Fold a piece of paper in half
Open the paper and let your child place the string on the paper.

Fold over the paper and push down.

If one end of the string isn't sticking out the side, pull it out to the edge.
Hold the paper and allow your child to pull out the string.

Unfold the paper to see the unique design.

My son told me his looked like a dinosaur house. Others we tried looked like butterflies. You could experiment by repeating with a different colour.

If you have lots of children involved, you could use a really big piece of paper with several pieces of different coloured painted string. Let each child pull out their string.
