Adding colour
Rainbow rice ready for play
Set out an old sheet outside and lay out the tubs of rainbow rice and the various play containers and utensils.
Let the kids have fun exploring the coloured rice any way they choose. They might enjoy scooping, pouring, or mixing with hands. Try cutting the top off a plastic bottle to make a funnel.
Try singing some rainbow songs together as you play. You can also make some noisy shakers to play along with by filling some of the rice into empty bottles or tins with lids.
The old sheet catches spilled rice and makes refilling containers and tidying up afterwards much easier.
Try making a
Find-it rice bottle when you're finished playing for another day.
