Next time you take a trip to the beach, why not use your bucket to collect beach debris and make a sand picture with what you find? Children of all ages will enjoy making a secret garden picture with their beach treasures. It's a great way to explore natural shapes and textures and can be done as a group activity.

Time: 30 minutes

Method
Enjoy walking along the beach collecting interesting beach debris in a bucket e.g. shells, leaves, seeds, seaweed, drift wood etc. Look for interesting shapes, colours and textures
Draw a shape in the sand to make your frame. You could also make a more defined frame by arranging several pieces of driftwood.

Have fun sorting through your collection and making a secret garden by arranging your items in the frame. You can lay items flat or make a 3D effect by sticking in pieces vertically.
