This is an idea for a very simple sock puppet. I recently used it as a birthday party activity for a cat-themed birthday party. Because there isn't any sewing it's easy to let a large group of children do the activity at the same time with very little adult assistance, which is handy at a party. I had 16 children the party, ranging in age from 7 to 10. The other half of the group made
this mouse for the cat to chase and then they swapped over. I was really impressed with the children's creativity - one even stuck the mouse on to the cat with glue as though it had the mouse it its mouth!

Method
Using the fabric pens draw features on to the sock puppet. For a really easy and quick craft you can wimply draw on all the features with then pen. Or you can mix and match the suggestions below.
Cut out felt triangles and glue on for ears. You could also use a green sock and more felt triangles glue down the centre to make a dinosaur puppet.
Cut pipe cleaners and glue them on to make whiskers. You could also snip small holes on either side of the nose and feed the whiskers through.
Glue on a pop-pom for the nose or the eyes.
Use your imagination to combine the techniques above and make your own unique sock puppet.
At a party, use the other sock in the pair as the party bag for all the goodies the children will be taking away with them.
