Spoon Button Butterfly

Here's how to create a pretty spoon button butterfly with lots of different textures. Look out in discount craft shops for big bags of mixed buttons.

Age: Under 5s, 5 to 10s
Level: Easy

Materials
Disposable spoon
Strong glue
Buttons
Googly eyes or sticky dots
Coloured card
Paint
Scissors

Method
Apply strong glue along the back of the spoon handle.

Stick colourful buttons onto the glue in a line along the back of the spoon handle.
Stick on googly eyes or sticky dots on the back of the spoon to make eyes.

Fold a piece of card in half and cut out butterfly wings across the fold.
Squirt a little paint onto one half of the butterfly wings.

Press the wings closed and then re-open to reveal a symmetrical butterfly design.

When dry, glue the spoon handle onto the fold of the wings to complete your spoon button butterfly. You could hang up with thin thread to make an unusual hanging decoration.
