Spoon People
Your kids will have more than a spoonful of fun creating and customising their own little spoon people.
pleased to meet you
Every Friday, my local friends with kids take it in turn to host each other for 'Coffee & Chaos'. The Mum's attempt to drink coffee and the kids create chaos.
I was hosting this Friday and with slightly smaller numbers than usual, decided to set up a craft for the kids to try.
Time: 15 minutes
Age: Under 5's, 5-10's
Level: Easy, Medium
Materials
Plastic spoons
Glue
Wool (yarn)
Tissue paper
Felt
Marker pen
Pipe cleaners
Collect scraps of different materials from around your house to make or decorate clothes. Little pieces of fabric, cotton wool, wading, sequins, old packaging are all useful.
Method
Apply plenty of glue to the back of the spoon head and a little on top and then stick on your chosen hair. Some of our spoon people had little pieces of wool and others had some pulled apart wading.
Use a marker to draw on eyes and facial features or use small scraps of felt/paper.
Cut a pipe cleaner in half and then wrap around the spoon to create arms.
Now it's time for some clothes. Younger children can simply glue on some tissue paper for a great effect. For slightly older kids, you can cut out some outfit shaped pieces from felt in advance.
Have a look at the pictures to get some ideas.
If it's getting close to Christmas, why not try making a Santa or experiment with different ages to make a whole spoon people family.
