Springy Catapult Frog

This springy catapult frog is an easy craft for preschoolers. It's quick and cheap to make and is lots of fun to play with. Push the frog cup down onto the elastic band launcher cup and watch the frog spring into the air.



Time: 10 minutes
Age: Under 5's
Level: Easy

Materials
  • Two paper cups
  • Strong elastic band
  • Green paper or thin card
  • Googly eyes
  • Glue
  • Sticky tape
  • Scissors



  • Method
  • Draw two long frog legs on the green paper and cut out.



  • Fold the long legs into a concertina.



  • Stick the concertina legs onto the inside of one paper cup with sticky tape.



  • Draw a frog face on green paper and cut out.



  • Stick to the front of the cup with the legs on.
  • Glue on googly eyes.



  • On the other cup, cut two small vertical slits (about half a centimetre long) on opposite ends of the cup rim.



  • Place the elastic band through each slit and around one half of the cup.



  • Your catapult frog is now ready.

  • Push the frog cup down onto the elastic cup and let go. Watch your frog spring into the air.
