Springy Ladybird Card

This is a fun and easy greeting card to make. When you open the card, ladybirds on card springs pop out.

Time: 10 minutes
Age: 5-10's
Level: Medium

Materials
Piece of white A4 card folded into greeting card
Red card or thick construction paper
Green card or thick construction paper
Black felt tip pen
Glue

Method
Cut a leaf shape from the green card to fit onto the front of the greeting card

Green leaf to stick to front of card


Cut 3 long strips from the green card (about 10cm x 2cm works well) and fold these into concertinas to make the springs.

Cut 3 small oval shapes from the red card to make mini ladybirds for the inside
Cut 1 large oval shape from the red card to fit onto the leaf

Using the black felt top pen, draw a ladybird head and spots onto all of the red oval shapes

Stick the large ladybird onto the green leaf and stick this onto the front of the greeting card
Glue a small ladybird onto the ends of each of the three green card springs

Get gluing

Glue the ends of the green card ladybird springs onto the inside of the card

Inside of card finished and ready to write your greeting


When the glue is dry, fold the springs carefully so that the greetings card closes flat
The ladybirds will pop out when the card is opened

You could try different animals or shapes. How about bright bumblebees or butterflies - or even hearts for Valentines Day?
