Ready for blast off

Crafts that can also be a toy are a double bonus. Cut the pieces in advance for younger kids. Older children will be able to design and cut their own with safety scissors. When you blow through the straw your rocket will be launched into space. You could have a competition to see who's rocket goes the furthest.

Time: 10 minutes
Age: Under 5's, 5-10's
Level: Easy

Materials
Lightweight coloured paper
Glue
Scissors
Straw

Method
Cut a rectangle, some circles and a triangle.
Fold the rectangle in half and glue one end and the long side closed, making a pocket.

Take a deep breath and blow hard through the straw to launch your rocket.

You could also make animals that fly or jump like a frog, bird or kangaroo. As long as you create a pocket for the straw they can be launched up into the air.
