Printing and stamping is a fun way to make unusual patterns. String block printing is easy for preschoolers who like fast results and bold patterns.

You could do the printing on a large piece of paper and use it as wrapping paper for a present just like we did.

Time: 15 minutes
Age: Under 5's
Level: Easy

Materials
Empty box that's comfortable for a toddler to pick up in one hand (we used an empty egg box)
String
Paint
Paper

Method
Wrap string around the box in several directions and secure with a knot.

Spread paint out in a container.
Lay out a sheet of paper and you're ready to get printing.
Your child can hold the string covered box, dip in the paint and stamp all over the paper.

If you like printing with string, you could try other techniques like potato printing or string painting.
