Inspired by the beautiful and delicate looking tissue paper pom poms from howtoi I thought these could be turned into some striking flowers. You could make a whole bouquet and give them as a Mother's Day present.

Time: 20 minutes
Age: Over 10's
Level: Medium

This is how to make a large multi coloured flower.

Materials
8 pices of tissue paper 30x40cm
2 long green pipe cleaners
Scissors
Chopstick

Method
Lay each piece of tissue paper on top of each other, alternating the colours.

You could also use a single colour or try several shades of one colour

Fold the tissue paper bundle, back and forth like an accordion or concertina.

When it's fully folded, secure by twisting one of the pipe cleaners in the centre.

Cut a triangle into each end of the tissue paper.

Carefully unfold and start to tease out the layers of tissue paper.

Ruffle up to make sure it's even all the way around.
Taking hold of the pipe cleaner, lay the chopstick next to it and twist around.
Take the second pipe cleaner and starting over the where the first is wrapped around the chopstick, continue wrapping around. This will hold the flower securely to it's stalk.

You could paint the chopstick green in advance if you want the stalks to show or just group together and put in a vase (without water)
