Create your very own farmyard or jungle for a windowsill and watch the grass grow. When it gets long, have fun cutting the grass.
Materials
Soil/ tissue paper/ kitchen roll/felt/ hessian or similar.
Cress seed, cat grass seed or similar.

Cat grass worked well for thick tall grass
Method
Line the bottom of the tub with hessian (or soil/ kitchen roll/ tissue paper etc) and water well.

We tried a piece of coarse hessian sacking for the jungle liner
Sprinkle cress seed or cat grass seed liberally over the damp liner.

Cress on blotting paper and foam liner
Put some animals in the tub. We made a cress farm with a sheep and a grass jungle with giraffes.

We started off with tigers and switched to taller giraffes as the grass grows quite tall quickly
Put the tub onto a windowsill and keep well watered.
Watch the seeds germinate and grow every day. You should have quite good growth within about 10 days.
When the grass gets long, have fun giving it a trim!

Mowing the grass on the farm
With any left over seed, you could have a go at making a
funny haircut potato head.
